316L Stainless Steel Pipe is specified for process piping, sanitary lines, and chloride-exposed services where low-carbon molybdenum austenitic stainless is required. Procurement should lock seamless vs welded route, OD × wall thickness, end finish, ASTM A312 / project EN practice, heat-lot EN 10204 3.1 MTC, and third-party inspection hold points when the PO requires them. Do not treat 304L pipe as a silent substitute under marine or chemical chloride duty.
